Song of Pueblo

Ideal for grade schools, colleges and universities, special public events, Pueblo class reunions and other communities.

Song of Pueblo will perform in Boulder and Pueblo with Colorado University’s philharmonic, as part of the CU’s American Music Research Center’s “Soundscapes of Pueblo”, in the Spring of 2022).  Soundscapes is an extensive study of Pueblo’s diverse immigrant music.  The project is led by Dr. Susan Thomas of CU and Dr. Xochitle Chavez, (University of California) who grew up on Pueblo’s east side.  More information is forthcoming.

Since 2008, Song of Pueblo has been a multi-media performance with historic photographs, paintings and video reenactments projected behind the musicians.  Together with the narrations, lyrics and exquisite music, audiences of all ages are deeply moved by this memorable show.

Two parts, six minutes each.

This collection of original songs creates an anthology of music, each song is a story of epic historical events for example: 

  • The battle between Spanish General Juan Batista de Anza and the Comanche Chief Cuerno Verde, in the    1700s 
  • The founding of the steel mill,1800s
  • The great flood of 1921, 
  • The tidal wave of immigration
  • The Ludlow Massacre, 1914
  •  The creation of the patchwork of ethnic neighborhoods that comprise Pueblo.
